While its great that Viewranger has finally started to use Beacon Buddy for more than a very simple "this is where i am" application (long term users of Viewranger/Beacon Buddys site will understand what i mean when i say "sneezing on a map while having a nosebleed"!), the idea of using the data collected by Beacon Buddy for tracking and 'geotagging' tweets, audioboos, photo's video, etc is not new.
Phil Sorrell has been developing www.socialhiking.org.uk for the last year now (with Viewranger's assistance and approval) into a site with many more features and 'proper' OS map displays.
SocialHiking also has the ability to record beacons created by Instamapper and SPOT.
Well worth a look if you are the type that likes to "Share your adventure"
