There are two major female characters though, and you hear them both in extended dialogue scenes. Also a female nurse on the phone. I think it's a terrible example. Though to be fair to you, the edited OP (I never saw the original) is muddled.
I have done this thread on here before with tighter rules (not even a CONVERSATION amongst the men, referring to any women), and there really weren't many. You would think that most submarine military movies would
fit the bill but there is always someone going on about a wife.
I do have a feeling, though, that The Bedford Incident MIGHT fit this.
Glengarry Glen Ross fits the OP's criteria but I did not allow it because Jonathan Pryce confers with his unseen and unheard wife, on the other end of a telephone conversation, therefore she is involved in the film and affects the action. She is a character.
EDIT after digging up the old thread. Apparently I had asked for "no speaking roles" in the OP but it was a badly written OP and I tightened the rule to "not on screen". This thread doesn't seem to have the "no reference to women" thing though, which makes me suspect that that idea came out of The Bedford Incident where as mentioned before, I am not sure that any sailor mentions a woman once.
Here is the thread, some good suggestions (many getting shot down in flames of course!)
