For the first time since the release of the film Touching the Void, Joe Simpson will speak publicly at The Outdoors Show about his epic struggle for survival in the Peruvian Andes, which has since entered mountaineering legend.
Joe will be one of a number of celebrity speakers at the show, which kicks off at the NEC, Brimingham on 26 March. Also in the line-up is top climber, Leo Houlding, who will speak about making the awe-inspiring ascent of Mount Asgard's north face.
And if you want to see the pros in action, be sure to check out the 2010 SkyMasters. Now recognised as the UK's most exciting climbing competition and the pioneer of a revolutionary style dubbed “speed difficulty”, the event will see 40 elite climbers going head-to-head on a spectacular overhanging course set in the rafters of the NEC.
After all that inspiration, why not give it a go yourself? The show will feature several rock climbing walls for beginners to experts, and an Ice Climbing wall will provide a challenging opportunity for visitors to prove their mettle on one of nature's toughest ascents. What's more manufacturer DMM will be appearing at the Show with goodies aplenty, so there'll be opportunities for you to check out and test all the latest kit.
