The Roles

The route setting team are one of the most important parts of our organisation. They are responsible for resetting the routes and blocs at both our Cardiff and Cheltenham sites, as well as our circuit boards, woodies boards, and more. They upload their routes to Griptonite and social media, and oversee and help to resolve maintenance issues in the centre.

We are looking for setters to join our team, either as a setter, senior setter, or Head Setter.

The ideal candidates must:

  • Have at least two years of setting experience in a commercial wall
  • Be able to set creative and interesting routes and blocs, with a good understanding of indoor climbing and bouldering
  • Work closely with the Director of Climbing to achieve the Boulders mission of providing an inclusive and fun experience for climbers of all abilities
  • Have strong communication skills
  • Be good at giving feedback to others, even if it is sometimes difficult or constructive feedback
  • Be good at listening to feedback from customers and the setting team below them
  • Be able to leave their ego at the door
  • Always follow industry standards for setting and safety
  • Be organised and efficient with time and resources

Details

  • Salary is £25,000 - £34,000 (pro rata) depending on role and experience
  • 16-40 hour contracts are available
  • 28 days annual leave (pro rata), rising to 32 days (pro rata) after successful completion of probation period
