The bus has been running on and off since 2001 but consistently over the last few years, picking up many dedicated users who are happy to avoid the usual Stanage parking problems which occur most weekends through the summer. It is a bio-deisel bus and has plenty of space for bikes and climbing kit.
The bus sets off from the Sheffield Interchange and goes through Hunters Bar on to Ringinglow, to Burbage, all three car parks at Stanage, and then down to Hathersage. There are four buses running each day, two early and two later ones. If you are coming from Manchester then you can catch the train to Hathersage to connect to the bus up the hill to the Gritstone.
It costs only £2 for the return journey.
If you catch the first bus out and the last bus back in then you should be able to fit in over 8 hours climbing!
The Stanage Bus is supported by Sheffield Passenger Transport Executive, the Stanage Forum, the Peak District National Park and the Access and Conservation Trust (ACT).
