Editing my Route

  1. The route line appears in the wrong place on the map?
This seems to be a display bug with Bing maps, which we hope they will eventually fix. If route line is shown wrongly, dragging the map a short distance should 'snap' the route line back to the correct place.
  2. Map is slow?
If the map is frustratingly slow to move and zoom, it is probably because it needs a fast web browser. Any recent version of the Firefox, Safari, Chrome or Opera browsers should be fast enough.
  3. Dragging the map also adds to my route line?
This seems to be a bug with Bing maps, which we hope they will eventually fix. Try doing larger drags, rather than lots of short drags which can be confused as clicks. You can also pan the map by using the keyboard ←/→ keys, instead of dragging with the mouse. Finally, switching to a fast browser like Chrome instead of Internet Explorer has helped some users.
  4. Clicking on the map pans it instead of adding to my route line?
This can happen with lots of quick clicks. Try a short wait between each click when you are adding to your route line.

Photos

  1. Which photos can I use in my Route Card?
You can choose a photo from your own gallery or from anywhere in the UKC and UKH Photo Galleries. Please make sure that photos you choose are appropriate for your route and it is polite to ask permission if you use someone else's photo. If you wish to upload a new photo then you will need to wait until it is checked by the moderators before it appears in your Route Card, which normally only takes a few hours.
  2. Extra photos in my Route Card?
At present you can only choose a single large photo that appears at the top of your Route Card. However, you can write links in the text of your Route Card to other photos that illustrate the route. e.g., to another photo in your gallery written as: https://www.ukhillwalking.com/photos/dbpage.php?id=159351
We hope to support multiple photos in a future upgrade of the Route Cards system.
