A winter ascent approached by scrambling the Giants Staircase as detailed in the current SMC Highland Scrambles South guide - S2/3. From the top of the Giants Staircase go directly S across a shallow valley heading for a large snow field on the western side of the North face. Climb this to its top and finish up a broken exit gully on the western side of the broken buttress directly above. This line takes you almost directly to the summit cairn. Not much evidence if cornice formation but the snow field was convex and could be dodgy in the wrong conditions. The wet snow on the upper half of the Giants Staircase did not seem to present much of a problem but in hard winter conditions it would be harder WII/III?.
