βeta: A direct line can be taken as a scrambly VD. Take the initial slabs wherever (easy Diff), then take the mossy groove bounding the L of L slab above (to L of slab with overlap). Cross a bit of flatter ground to the base of the 'steep-angled rib' mentioned in the Highland Scrambles North description, and take this on the slabby L side of the arete (not the steep and exposed R) - a couple of 4a-ish moves but on clean, sound rock. At top of this traverse L over the adjacent mossy rib to find a dark, mossy and damp chimney-groove, ascended as a very traditional Mod. Emerge from this to the base of the big-boot wide crack mentioned in Highland Scrambles North, and take this to finish. As a more direct line, and with the best bits of rock on the ridge (the steep-angled rib and the wide finishing crack) included, worth a star. Never too exposed or sustained, but limited protection on the slab and rib, and poor anchor options throughout - best viewed as a solo. | ||
