Halldale Quarry is a huge open hole in the ground which was developed in 2001. There were a number of good walls including the Spectre Wall which gave some excellent sport routes. Most other sections were developed but they are not in the same class as the Spectre Wall. In 2018 planning permission was granted to build a housing estate in the quarry. The planning permission refers to 'Cawdor Quarry' although it appears that the development is almost exclusively taking place in Halldale. The climbs described here are the best of the set and they are recorded for historical reasons. At the time of writing, they do still exist and the development is only progressing slowly.
Tarmac (the landowner) does not permit climbing on this site. If you choose to climb here and your presence is challenged, remain polite and respectful and if asked to leave do so as quickly as is safely possible.
Currently or imminently under development for housing.
