A peaceful little quarry for a bite size slate experience. Sparse protection, plenty of rusty bolts and a couple of loose bits, helmets are very much encouraged and a clip stick if possible.
Walk West across the road and follow the path down to and then cross Derwent River by wading. It may be more difficult after rain.
Pass a small wooden bridge heading South West and up a slight hill as the North Wall of the quarry should come into view.
No restrictions at present.
On 18th August this year a large section of rock on and around the route "the seam" collapsed. The bolt moved but did not fail suggest avoiding this crag completely. If you are brave or mad then please check the condition of the hangers before leaving the ground as several of them were extremely rotten. Cjmountford - 16/Oct/16 |

Had the misfortune to visit this quarry recently. The south side is substantially overgrown and difficult to access. The north side is cleaner but many routes have spaced rusty bolts and many lower offs are very corroded. Stiff grades, midges and a recent big rockfall around route 23 makes this a crag to avoid
Needs a total makeover
Easy walk in though Angry old man - 18/Sep/14 |

Nice little venue if you wanna practice climbing on slate, however the gear on the lower offs is quite dodgy and bolts were loose/rusty. Grades felt harder compared to welsh slate. najki_2000 - 01/Jun/14 |

A good "bad weather" option (the overhanging south side stayed dry in the driving hail/rain and being slate, the north side dried as we were looking at it).
A lot of the routes we tried felt/were harder than the guidebook grades suggested, especially amongst the low grades on the north side. kyaizawa - 05/Mar/12 |
