Pordenack Point is the first major headland south of Land's End. This delightful cliff is barely 1km from Land's End, yet it has a remote atmosphere that is a world away from the latter's hustle and bustle and overt commercialism. The rock is generally excellent but deteriorates towards the extremities of the cliff and within some of the deeper cracks.
Pordenack gets plenty of sunshine and is quick to dry after rain. There is a good mix of grades and a clutch of exceptional routes.
From Land's End, follow the well-worn coastal path southwards beyond Greeb Cottage. Continue along the edge of the clliffs for 1km to where a path leads out onto the crest of the headland.
Slightly tricky downclimb on the approach to The Lower Cliffon The Trough, just after The Squeeze. May be advisable to protect novice climbers. Skip - 22/Sep/12 |
