An amazing jutting bastion of rock containing two routes of immense impact and a clutch of uncompromising boulders. This is a top quality venue for the accomplished and ambitious. The rough gritstone is usually clean due to its constant exposure to the lashing westerly gales.
Do not use wire brushes - the rock is surprisingly fragile.
Park at Widdop car park and follow Gorple Stones Bridleway up onto Shuttleworth Moor. Eventually a fingerpost is reached. From here a path leads off the track south to the crag.
The crag is on land used for grouse shooting - respect any access notices posted - or have your head blown off, whichever you prefer.
