I'm looking for a backpack (around 60-70l) that I can use 'comfortably' on a multi-day approach which will also compress to climb reasonably well (i.e. light and minimal frame). I'm not looking for an Osprey trekking style with a heavy frame.

I currently have the Mountain Equipment Tupilak 50-75 but I am looking for something else for 2 reasons:

  • No small/exterior pockets so any item must be retrieved by removing the pack and unrolling the drybag collar.
  • The pack is top heavy when the extension collar is used as it is narrow and tall, which makes it awkward to take on/off on steeper terrain.

2 options I have seen are the Blue Ice Stache 60l and the North Face Cobra 65l, or possibly adding some external pockets to the Tupilak. Interested to hear what other options people are using or if anybody has opinions on these packs.

Cheers,

James
