Hi David, maybe this post is a good place to start ?

Personally I use Helly Hansen polypropylene - worst weather was -15° on Lochnagar.

Will watch the thread with interest 🙂

Not leggings but when its really cold  I tend to wear a pair of fleece salopettes (North Face ? can't remember), often under goretex. That's kept me warm down to -25° or so but ski mountaineering rather than climbing. But when its not so cold I often wear Powerstretch leggings which are the warmest leggings I've ever had - my current pair are now quite old & from Lowe Alpine but my wife recently bought a pair from Rab which seem very similar.

Aclima Doublewool longs. A mix of merino woolnet on the inside which creates air pockets against the skin for warmth and breathability. 230 merino warmwool on the outside. Absolutely brilliant if you want to roast yer nuts.

Concept comes from the weegie conscript teenagers who would wear their issue woolnet and wool longs together when on exercise in winter.

The woolnet system is also a legend in itself.

on sale too: https://www.nordicoutdoor.co.uk/aclima-mens-doublewool-long-pants/
