Looking for a birthday present for a god-daughter who is turning 11. She loves nature and exploring outdoors. I wondered about getting a subscription for her to some sort of magazine which would be age appropriate.

Any suggestions of anything like this that your kids have enjoyed?

At this age, she'd probably read 'normal' magazines - BBC Wildlife? My 11 year old still reads the Beano but isn't interested in other kids stuff

My kids have had subscriptions to NatGeo Kids and WhizzPopBang (more STEM than nature/outdoors, though) - both really enjoyed them:

What about rspb, local wildlife trust etc membership?

My daughter (10.5) loves the National Geographic Kids. She's had it for about two years but still reads it cover to cover and the walls of her room are covered in pictures of fantastic animals she's taken from the magazine.

If she's studying French, maybe consider La Hulotte ?

Better than any of the British wildlife magazines aimed at kids that I've seen.

Thanks folks, a few ideas there to consider. 😊

Mine get woodland trust, RSPB, wildlife trust on a quarterly or bimonthly basis. They're okay but not much content.

The Week Science and Nature magazine monthly is good. They get that and Aquila, also good.

I’d go for the rspb under 18s option. The wildlife trust so a generic mag, which has ‘serious’ stuff in it Like their business plan summary. Wetlands trust is over priced for everything.

My kids have Nat Geo (Kids), they are 11 and 8 and we are all pretty keen on wildlife. The 11 year old skims it to be honest; I’m not sure he gets much from it any more. The 8 yr old still enjoys it and continually approaches me and his mum with facts gleaned.
