Recycle/give away helmet & harness (London)

Hi, I have an old (ie. 10-yr+) helmet and harness I no longer use. I really want to avoid landfill, but I don't feel comfortable selling or even giving them away, as I can't in good conscience vouch that it's 100% safe. Are there any other options?

I'm aware there are recycling bins up North, but London-based, so I'm seeking an option that's local, if possible...

Thanks - any hints appreciated!
