I seem to have finally destroyed the Silva Type 3 compass that's been sitting in a buoyancy aid pocket largely ignored for the last few years. The needle is knackered, and instead of sitting in a nice full bath of clear fluid it's just up to its ankles in horrible brown soup.
There's nothing wrong with the baseplate though, so if anyone has a type 3 compass with a broken baseplate you might be able to use mine to make one good compass. (It might also fit the needle/bezel/thingamabob from a type 4 and/or a couple of others, I don't know.)
Just before I chuck it out, I thought I'd check to see if it's any use to anybody. Ping me an email with your address if so and I'll bung it in the post..
