I am thinking of buying a Trangia w/ gas conversion. Any alternatives for self contained stoves? I used a Primus ETA Power for a few years which was a nice bit of kit.

The background - I am converting my Defender into a camper at the moment and seriously trying to reduce the amount of tat I am carrying. I am looking up stoves at the moment and thinking a Trangia might be a good investment.

I don't want one of those big twin gas burners - I dont have the room and never had much luck with wind.

The Lava stove from Access Expeditions gets recommendations on the FB DofE Leaders group. A Trangia clone, probably a badged generic Chinese build. If it's good enough to survive DofE groups...

The big issue with trangias is always cooking on base aluminium pans, if you're just carrying it in a vehicle I'd go for standalone stove and a pan set from a caravan supply shop which are usually normal pans with detachable handles and which nest better than the stuff you use at home.
