We keep hens to produce eggs.

Broody hens are strictly forbidden !

Naughty broodies should be regularly ousted from the nest box well before they reach that stage. Pay attention to your livestock! 😄.

Yes indeed. She originally had 18 eggs. 14 hatched, casualties followed, now left with 9.

This mother hen worked by stealth, built a sizeable nest and layed all 18 eggs before I registered. The nest was within 1m of my daily passage but quite out of sight below a collection of oil & fuel canisters. By which time the eggs were likely beyond consumption, and backed by a family vote, she won her maternal rights !
