Liked the comment about digging the van INTO the car park today before donning snowshoes(Fannaichs). Even on Sunday the Beinn Eighe ridge was knee deep in soft snow after a struggle getting up on to it! Snow to sea level in the north west with unpleasant driving conditions earlier today. Looks like a thaw arrives from Saturday and continues through next week.

They did well to even get to a car park today. Over east, I couldn't get our car out and had to stay home. The irony of winter climbing - you want snow, but not too much in the wrong place

In reply to Dan Bailey - UKHillwalking.com:

I know what you mean, Dan. A bit of "feast and  famine". Just hope next week' s thaw doesn't t lead to the famine stage. Would be nice to get a few days settled weather. My barometer in Gairloch has rarely been above 990mb for the past fortnight.
