Following a public consultation, the Lake District National Park Authority has agreed to lease Glenridding Common to the John Muir Trust - a property that includes the larger part of Helvellyn.
I'm very interested to hear their plans for this area. The John Muir Trust are committed to habitat restoration - rewilding by any other name. Will they prioritise this over farming interests? I hope so.
In reply to pasbury: I have to confess when I read this article the first word that came to mind is 'sheep'. I am curious how they plan to square farming with wild and 'natural habiat'.
