Okay, I realise it is a bit off topic, but here is my story: Years ago I went to India on a six months tourist visa valid for three reentries which I got extended for three months more when I needed that. After seven months I had to escort a friend from Bombay to Denmark as he had become seriously ill. I delivered him to his family and proper medical care and then returned to India. When I arrived back in Bombay Airport the immigration officer(s) told me that my visa was not valid for reentry after all (it was written in hindi), and that I had to take the first flight out of India. To make things a bit melodramatic, and to prevent me entering illegally, I was escorted by a policeman armed with a submachine gun while I sorted my onward journey. As it turned out the first flight out of India was going to Hongkong, and the airline company would sell me a ticket only if it was an open return ticket as I had no visa. Everything went ok (under the circumstances) and when in Hongkong, I got a tourist visa without any troubles and was able to change the return ticket to another destination, Bangkok which was on my originally planned itinerary.
