Any recommendations? Wife's hiking boots have bust a few threads and the soles of my Mantas are starting to detach at the heel. Both pairs are expensive boots- do I trust Timpson for it?

categorically no to Timpsons! They ruined a pair of my daughters boots and were then very dismissive about it. Suggest you find an independent cobbler. There is one in Westbury on Trym (it's just moved so now is next to the public toilets!). Can't vouch for them in detail but they have certainly done simple jobs ok. Or the Thai owned dress maker/tailor near the bike shop in Henleaze also does shoe repairs, just not on the premises.

The cobbler in Clifton Village has sorted out my approach shoes and done some sewing on my la sportivas. All good work
