Tired of the never ending excitement of cooking on a wobbly pocket rocket, after the usual research I bought a Vango folding gas stove yesterday from GoOutdoors in Clydebank. When I went to burn test at home It wouldn't work. Nor would my friends, who bought an identical model at the same time.

The problem was obvious enough - the pin and screw thread on the valve head were too short to open the valve on the gas canister. It wasn't even long enough for the rubber gasket to make a seal. After checking several brands of gas canister (all EN417), it was clear this was a manufacturing defect on the stove.

Seems like a duff batch of stoves. We spoke to Vango who had not received any other reports, but we are returning ours. If you recently bought one - Be warned! Test it out before you really need it. Otherwise the stoves looked great - very light, compact, and stable with seemingly good build quality for a great price.
