Looking for recommendations for a couple of great day hikes or easy scrambles in the Lakes. Will be heading up there this weekend with a (non-climbing) friend.

Both like a bit of solitude so anything that avoids the bulk of the bank-holiday crowds would be good!

Also looking for a good/relatively cheap camping spot

Cheers

These two statements don't really go together in peak season !!

What do you mean by good / relatively cheap?

Stayed at Braithwaite Bridges over the late May BH (it's the Scotgate overflow site the other side of the A66). It was a lot quieter than the main site, indeed surprisingly so given that it was a BH, 'relatively' cheap considering its location, and a very pleasant quiet campsite. This coming BH may not be as busy as usual given that a lot of schools are going back next week.

Convenient for Blencathra with Sharp Edge and Halls Fell Ridge.
