I'm off to Pitztal at the end of January and wondered what the Ice climbing
prospects are like in the area.

There doesn't seem to be a huge amount of information online, does anyone have any information or experience climbing there?

Is there a guidebook?

Thanks.

In reply to Tom F Harding:

The best Ice climbing topo for Pitztal and surrounding valley's is by far:
Eisklettern in Tirol.

There's a lot of information about ice falls on the website:
http://www.bergsteigen.com/eisfall#lat=47.028974664729&lng=10.764884069...

my experience:
Most waterfalls there are close to roads so ascent is easy.
Check the weather reports and email to guides in the area before leaving for conditions and tips. (not all waterfalls are described in topo's and conditions change very fast)

(Sorry for my English, I'm a Dutch guy...)

I do not know about the Pitztal Valley but the next valley north Otz has shed loads. The ice climbing in tirol guide has everything in it.

Official Tirol tourism marketing has a site called climbers-paradise.com
there is some ice climbing on it as well, but mostly bolted alpine crags.

Kitzgartenschlucht in the pitztal area is known for some good mixed for example.
