Does job hunting ever get any easier? Why is it such a ball ache?!

Looking to move from where i work but staying in the same industy; fire and gas equipment but there is not many companies on the south coast.

Who on here works in the fire and gas industry?

Its all a bit desperate and manager who could not organise getting out of a paper bag.

Nope. It is one of life's chores and you just have to lump it sadly.

Depends on your perspective.

I thoroughly enjoyed my last job hunt as it got me out of where i was. Without the hunt there would have been no hope and without hope i would have ended up....well actually i don't even want to imagine that!

Are you tied to the South Coast.

TYCO seem to have a lot of work offshore in the North Sea.

That side is good (got me through working in retail) but when you are chasing short term third sector contracts hunting can suck.

Embrace the hunting with a security net Mr Cat, the other option is a massive downer

Ive always found job hunting pretty easy but then there are many role in my industry.

First things first, get a full profile on LinkeIn. Ive found my last two jobs from there without even having to look - plus consultancy fees for contractual work.

Secondly, post your CV to job sites, loads of them. You will get recruiters searching you out rather than the other way around. Speak to colleagues about trusted specialist recruiters. Dont be fussy at the start and take as many interviews and you can physically handle so that you are practices when you get the one you really want.

Good luck.

Have you tried one of the south coast recruitment agencies that seem to specialise in technical jobs, such as Matchtech?
