Hi All, I am urgently in bed of advice so hope one of you experienced walkers/ climbers can help?

I am trying to find a pair of boots with as much ankle support as possible.  My issue is that I have nerve damage in my back, resulting in lack of sensation in foot and lower right leg, and while normal hillwalking is fine, I find that traversing across a slope ends up with my foot rolling under.

I have a pair of Salomon Quest Element,  which are just not supporting enough.

Thanks for your help.

Similar problem here, plus a ripped tendon in my foot, led me to Haix boots, needed a wide fit though, but they do different widths.

The best help though, was a visit to a local running specialist, who fitted me with orthotics, that got me from barely walking to walking the dog for a mile, overnight.

If you truly need I’d suggest you look for a truly supportive orthopaedic ankle splint to wear under boots rather than supportive boots.

Like this:

but I’m not fully aware of your issue so this is just internet advice.

If you can pop into Keswick Boot store (I don't know where you're based so sorry if it's miles from the Lake District!!!)

They've got a huge range and are excellent at fitting boots. Maybe even worth giving them a ring for advice.
