I remember seeing Patey two or three times at Harrisons in the late 60s, I think with McNaught Davies. Strongest memory of him is at the Unclimbed Wall end of the rocks, telling stories. He was a terrific raconteur, and was doing a lot more talking than climbing as far as I can remember.
