Women make up a growing proportion of the climbing and mountaineering community but are hugely under-represented in applications for exploratory mountaineering grants.
In an effort to increase the number of women undertaking climbing, skiing and mountaineering expeditions, the Alpine Club have partnered with the BMC, Mount Everest Foundation and Montane to host the inaugural ‘Expedition Essentials for Women Explorers’.
The two-day event at Plas Y Brenin in North Wales brings together experienced expedition hands and technical specialists to deliver talks and workshops covering topics including: expedition planning, how to fund your project and issues of specific concern to female expeditioners such as safety, cultural considerations and period hygiene in the mountains.
Whether you’re already eager to head to the greater ranges and are looking for expert guidance or you have longer-term aspirations and need to know where to start, EEWE will share the skills and knowledge you need to make your plans a reality.
BMC members (including those who are members through clubs) can purchase tickets for just £35 – a 50% saving!
