Stopped climbing during covid, made a brief return, then life's other problems got in the way apart from the odd indoor session. Trying to get back into it again with more time available so been trying for 2 or 3 indoor sessions a week. Hoping to get back outside when weather improves.
Some people are natural climbers, but I'm not. It takes me a lot of effort to get back to a modest standard after not climbing for a while. I'm not much good at onsighting, but can sometimes make a decent job of a redpoint at my limit after practice and I do really enjoy working sport routes. I climb indoors at Redpoint in Bristol, often during the day on autobelay. If you see me and want to do a few routes please ask, as I always have a rope in the bag.
I'm going to try and get back to where I could get up an occasional 7a sport route, then hopefully get up a 7b before I'm too old and decrepit (wrong side of 55 now). Maybe get on some exciting sea-cliff trad, too. Knees are too dodgy now for mountains, but you never know.
Anything Else We Should Know If on sport routes or indoors where I'm likely falling off or hanging on the rope a lot I like to be belayed with a grigi or other similar device.
