Halfway through leading the second pitch of a rapidly melting Devil's Appendix, a section of ice from the third pitch detached itself and landed on my face. After nearly passing out, and enduring moderate abuse from my belayer for climbing too slowly, I eventually set up a belay and we finished the route. A quick trip to Bangor hospital and my face was mended with a mix of stitches and superglue.
