It was like a millpond when we did it.

it was very unplesant, he made it across, just, then spat off and threw between the stack and the mainland, he then managed to scramble out and build a belay at the other end of the stack. When he got out he was very cold and only had a tea towel to dry himself with.

I crossed in similar conditions - f***ing terrifying. Had a wetsuit and helmet but probably also could have done with the benefit of a lifejacket. Do yourselves a favour folks and cross at low tide.
