Did Features place gear just out of shot at the crossover point with Sundowner?

Yes he did, and had a well prepared belayer, although he was so swift and smooth it was a formality.

And I agree, if people cant climb this route without a top rope then they should stick to either 1)bouldering or 2)indoors
