A seven shot stitch using PTGui. Original comes in at 9,538 by 4352, so this really can't do it justice

Amazing, 6 out of 5! Brilliant
Adam Lincoln - 06/Dec/06
Chris, superb. Sacrifice a little quality and make it 1000+ pixels across!
london_huddy - 06/Dec/06
Hindu - may well do, as I also need to sort out that bright area on the left. Cheers for the positive feedback guys
ChrisJD - 06/Dec/06
Chris - it's totally lovely. Five from me. You should be able to sort out the curved horizon by changing the center point of the panorama though, then i's gve it 5.5 ;)
midgets of the world unite - 06/Dec/06
The great thing about photography is to visualize a very familiar image from an original creative viewpoint/perspective. I love the clouds & lighting. Another cracker Chris.
Sean Kelly - 06/Dec/06
Don't usually look at scenery ones but this is exceptionally good, real poster material!
Fiend - 07/Dec/06
Nice pan.
have you tried some of the plugins for PTGui?
A Crook - 07/Dec/06
Not yet.
ChrisJD - 07/Dec/06
Love the shot, undecided on the left side, part of me likes the effect, part hates the loss of detail
roblo - 10/Dec/06
I like the overexposure on the LHS, adds another dimension. Amazing pic
Chris Fryer - 11/Dec/06
Do any routes on it?
willhunt - 13/Dec/06

I've cropped the left hand side and the image is definately better when the silhouetted tree is there. Leave well alone, it is superb.
sandywilson - 18/Dec/06
Hi Sandy. Yep I played around with differnt crops (the actual shot is another 25% wider!) and decided to include the left hand tree as it nicely balances with the right hand trees and the vertical line made by the Nose.
ChrisJD - 18/Dec/06
This photo is awesome. I wish i was there.
Charlie Noakes - 18/Dec/06
Definitely keep the overexposure on the left. It's more realistic ... and gives a great sillhouette of that mighty Scotch pine ...
ttmor - 18/Dec/06
Superb. One of the few shots I've seen that shows El Cap as it appears; i.e a separate entity rather than a cliff along the valley side. The backlit haze on the left looks perfectly exposed and natural to me - its a function of the changing angle of view.
Adam Long - 19/Dec/06
Beautiful.
Crag - 19/Dec/06
Never usually give a 5 but this is one of the best I've ever seen. El Cap must have loads of photos that got a 5 but yours really deserves it!
Nick Beckett - 19/Dec/06
astounding. one of the best photos i've seen on this site

Chris, fantastic photo, absolutely amazing.
CanĀ“t you uplaod it somewhere else too, so people can download/see a biiiig version of it, that would do it more right I think.
Arjen - 29/Dec/06
One of the best El Cap pictures I've seen. rarely portrayed perspective taken superbly. How do I get a copy for my wall?!
Jules King - 03/Jan/07
Extraordinary! I wanna be there now!
Jus - 23/Jan/07
It is indeed a wonderful photo, capturing the full majesty of the thing - it being one of those those wonders of the world like the Grand Canyon or the Matterhorn that actually exceeds one's expectations when you see it for the first time. This picture manages to capture something of the essence. Another 5-star vote.
Gordon Stainforth - 19/Apr/07
Once again, I truly believe UKC should be producing a calendar using these pictures - really, Countryfile, eat your heart out! We could raise loads of brass for charity ...
Scranner - 23/Apr/07
What i would give to be standing there, with my rack at the ready!
c_s_hawkins - 11/May/07
Well done, congrats on getting this published in this months issue of BMC Summit 47!
Dan-gerMouse - 18/Jun/07
Cheers dangermouse. I also got onto the front cover of Summit 47 as well. Plus a few more inside. Bit of a bumper month for me! Don't get paid though - it's all for charity!
ChrisJD - 18/Jun/07
Sorry, that should read Summit 46.
