Is that your tent, covered in frost?

Tough, these Vango Force 10s.

How cold was it?
Paul Phillips - UKC and UKH - 08/Nov/06
Well, the weather station at Braemar recorded -27.2 C in the early hours (of 10/1/82), which still stands as the national record (jointly with Braemar 11/2/1895 and Altnaharra 30/12/1995). On the neighbouring an Caisteal I couldn't persuade my thermometer to get below -16, but I suspect it was a good bit lower down in Glen Falloch - my air-cooled VW started ok, but I was still scraping ice off the inside of the windscreen back in Glasgow.

Tam McAuley and myself did the First Ascent of Jimmy Dewar's Icefall on 10/01/82, so we were about 10 miles north of you that day. It was cold, but a great day.
Norrie Muir - 05/Jan/07
Memorable day all round then, Norrie. Did you catch the lunar eclipse the previous night? Camped on an Caisteal, I found it a weird and almost frightening spectacle, the grey shadow of death slithering across and snuffing out the brilliant crystalline landscape.
