great image, until I noticed the camera.... you lugged a hasselblad up there.... its a stunning image..... the print must be very nice. I may have cropped the bottom a little but I guess the effort demands every pixel :)

Great picture has an unearthly feel about it like a dreamscape.

A nice pic...but presumably a composite given the high rear lighting, shadow detail on K2 and adjacent ridges? Yes/No?

Awesome. More resolution would be great - want to use it for my PC desktop background - with credit to Tom Bullock!

Very striking, but definitely a composite. You would never see the stars/moon detail when sunlight was still on K2! And if the sun wasn't up, there would be no shadow, as the moon is behind. Still stunning though!

WOW, that is all I have to say

"Yes, all you astute photographers—it is a composite of the landscape illuminated by the full moon ??"
So it's not a REAL photo then?

Padraig, get over it. He's not making any claims of it being anything other than a composite. If you don't like it, vote accordingly.

Yes, all you astute photographers—it is a composite of the landscape illuminated by the full moon (that was actually behind me) and the full moon double–exposed in the position shown. So the shadow is indeed due to the light of the moon, and the stars are caught in position because of the correct time exposure. The proper exposure of the full moon, as you know, is extremely short compared to a moonlit landscape. It is impossible, therefore, to expose both at the same time. Having taken classes with Ansel Adams and taught moonlight photography for several years at the local university, I worked out the perfect exposure under similar conditions. Ansel was liberal in his use of filters and chemical manipulation of the print, and (of course) the world he photographed is not black and white. So his photographs are (in a sense) composite as well. Thanks for all your wonderful comments. You can see more of my work on my website: www.tombullock.com
