Very nice pic. Just wondering what the settigns were on the camera to get the water flow like that but background still in focus. I keep playing with water effects but can't seem to get them right like that. Cheers

Dead easy - just set your Canon to 'shutter priority' mode and select a shutter speed of 1/30th or slower (i.e. 1/15, 1/8, etc). With 1/30 and a steady hand you can just about hand-hold the camera, and with fast-flowing water this is the effect you will get, but any slower shutter speed will require the use of some sort of support. The slower the speed, the greater the 'smoothing' effect on the water. You will normally be using the zoom at its widest setting, and the background focus will take care of itself.
Btw, in case anybody's wondering, in the end I went back across the burn and we returned to the bothy. It was a rotten day for Seana Bhraigh anyway!
