Been wanting to scramble up to the top for years. Finally hit the right tide, on the right day. Still quite rush up and back, only just made it back across the gully with waves charging in. Thank goodness barnacles are grippy little feckers ;) Some great body surfing on the beach as the tide came in too.

Nice! I've done the Bishop, but been meaning to get up there for ages. How was the last bit to the summit? I think I turned around just below that because I'd gone out in wellies. Jumping the gully sticks in the mind!

Hi Tom, Yes I had done the Bishop, but never attempted Gull rock before. The top section was fine in walking shoes. I found the first short climb section up gull rock the most tricky. Took a moment of thought on the down climb. The gully was as committing as ever. Waves bashing there way through. Happily barnacles are still very grippy when wet. I spent less than 5 mins at the top. Any longer I would have had to swim back. I started at low tide. Best start before low tide. Well worth it though. Hope you get a chance soon. It's added in my log book now. :)
