Thanks Tony.Yes it was dry when Alec Burns and I did it.We did the direct finish which I recall as being Ok Alec's lead.However seconding that first pitch is scarier than leading it.Taking out the only decent runner before embarking on the downward traverse was something I'm glad I avoided ??

I compared your image with mine [on this site]...you appear to have lots more gear placed than us and judging by the leaders clothing, the weather looks good? The day we chose it was cold and damp with light snow showers which added "interest." Ken Jackson took our photos and shouted encouragement and direction. [Ken had climbed the route two years earlier with Les Brown].
Steve was a big Whillans routes, fan and had wanted to finish via the Direct, unfortunately, it was running in water! The Original Finish provided Steve with an alternative challenge of dispensing with aid points...which he did in good style. Good memories, thanks for posting Andy.
