This was commissioned by 24 Commando for an anniversary coming up in 2021. My grandfather was also a Commando and trained up here so it's been a real pleasure to paint this.

Thats awesome. I'd give it a 6 if I could. Worthy of the men who trained there. I'd recommend, if you haven't already seen it, the book 'Castle Commando' by Donald Gilchrist.

Thanks. Yes I have that and many other books on the subject. I'm particularly interested in the 1942 Commando raid on St Nazaire as my Grandad was a part of it - a demolition team member aboard HMS Campbeltown.

I know Jeremy Clarkson can be a tool but the documentary he did about the Campbelltown raid a few years ago was very good.

You're absolutely right, it was a great documentary. There will be a feature film about the raid, but not sure of the details as yet.
