Really like this a lot. A headtorch photo where it looks like the headtorch isn't just there for photographic effect!

Agreed. And the hands are beautifully captured. It's got an intimate feel to it that photography in the Alps generally doesn't seem to. Choice of aperture may have been determined by the available light more than anything else, but the subtly blurred mountains in the background really work. Excellent.

Do you still have to flog up those endless zigzags on the moraine to access the Rothorn hut?

Why the gloves, too cold? Why so early in the day? Where's the rope? Can't think of any more questions at the moment....

@nuddy - gloves because it is about -5C and 30kmh wind, so early as we are on a long route and want to get it done before the descent snow slopes get warm. the rope is going down out of sight to the girl that is belaying - the other headtorch near the bottom of the image

@nuddy.. the plan for the day was to get over rothorngrat, down north ridge and over schalilhorn to the weisshorn.. the weather degraded though so we only got over the zinalrothorn in the end...
