Awesome effort. One of the most impressive locations I have almost seen (trying to peer in from above). Great Zawn pales beside it.

I read Des Hannigan's account of this last night. "We fell from grace and the golden light, To midday's midnight, In one long slide, An abseil into the afterlife,". The great zawns really are another world. Thanks for the inspiration both, il have to glide down Zawn Duel one day.

Thanks Alex, yes Des' account was partly what inspired this trip too. Hope you manage to get in there some time, it's a great place. Cheers!

What a route, what a place. As out there and serious as any big alpine adventure. Screw it up and no-one will know where you are. There is no phone coverage.
Utterly worthwhile :-)

For what it’s worth a 100m rope from the redish outcrop takes you all the way with just a couple of metres to spare. Joined ropes might just about deposit you on a ledge for a changeover, if you’re into that sort of thing.
It’s enormous, hard (well I found it hard) loose and totally and utterly gripping - thank God I can French free!
It’s also wet, but probably about as dry as it will ever be.
