Might well be just remembered that i took most of the images from there looking what i thought was west so also thought there was a good chance that this was west. I bow to your superior knowledge. Im sure someone will post in the comments the names of the mountains in this image and what direction they are in soon.

Beinn Odhar near on right. Cruach Ardrain mid right out of cloud behind.

I don't think you need knowledge of the area to see that this can't be west, otherwise the sun would have to be impossibly far north or north-west! Probably afternoon sun in the west, so indeed looking south.
