Amazing image, but why don’t the stars have light trails like the head torch?

Something strange here.

As to "why don't the stars have light trails", good question. Best guess - a series of exposures (since the light trails in the gully are lines not dots). Merge together the images of the ground (which isn't moving) but only use 1 image of the sky (which is). Sky exposure taken using the rule of 500 or whatever so the stars don't move. Thats my guess anyway, happy to be corrected. And great shot - have a 5. Paul

And just read the tech details which seem to bear this out. Doh...

The composition isn't really doing it for me, but it's still a 5!

Hey everyone, thanks for all of the kind comments.
The reason why there are no star trails is because I decided that I wanted the head torch light to be the focus of the image and when I included the stacked star trails, I found them to be too cluttered and distracting. As such, I chose to use just one of the 74 images for the sky to simplify the image.
@tricadam, thanks for the feedback, please let me know your thoughts on how you'd prefer the composition to be - I'm always up for constructive advice as every day is a learning day! Cheers
