Great photo but where is that and what's going on?

Sorry, I thought I wrote it there: Galehead & Bond were 2 of some 8+ 4000-footers that form the amphitheater around Pemigewasset Wilderness in New Hampshire, USA. The loop is a famous arduous hike called Pemi Loop. Depending on what peaks you tag along it can be from 31 miles to ~ 34 miles. I run 32.5 miles (what was runnable) in 2 days with an ultralight pack with everything you need for 3 nights of camping, including tent. And the tent? Kiddie tent I bought at Walmart for $17 the night before. :)) What's happening on the photo? First week of October, 2016, first snows at higher alts, but clearing at the end of my first day, below freezing and mighty gale all night, and spectacular sunshine the next day. I started the second day (17+ miles) in my ice climbing gear, but by 10am, I stripped to a jog bra. Easily the awesomest thing I ever did. STRONGLY recommended.

sorry got carried away: the golden sheen is the sun breaking through the clouds and hitting the sheer rock face on Mt Galehead (very aptly named, as it is ALWAYS gale up there). The scene was up for only a few minutes. I was swallowed by a cloud and surrounded with rime ice the moment after.

Thanks for taking the time to give a detailed reply. It's not a place I've heard of, sounds great, and an excellent and unusual photo.

A nicely balanced photo and great story to it.
