Background is stunning but the stance of the climber is poor, falling onto the slope, besides, probably better if they were facing towards the camera to engage the viewer. It's all to do with the this figure facing out of the frame so it leads the eye away from that lovely landscape. I find photos work best when you can direct the figure to place them exactly as you want them, although I know it's not always possible, and some climbers don't like being told. Just say that they'll thank you when they see the picture, or better still, have it printed poster size for their wall! I know I'm being picky but it's what I try to achieve when taking a pic. The other thing is getting partners to wear bright clothing to make the image sing.

Ben, your images are inspiring and taken in the craziest places! can't imagine lugging my camera up an ED1!? one day maybe...
(Also, to Sean, your gallery is equally stunning and your advice will definitely be helpful for some but possibly not for Ben.)

Beautiful picture. I like the fact that this photo is not set up. The climber's stance is not poor - he's resting in such a way to spread the weight evenly between hands and legs, which is the most stable position but quite tiring on the arms.

For sure by blocking the climber out of the image, the true beauty and power of this shot comes alive.
But a fantastic shot either way.

I like the realistic stance of the climber; concentrating, maybe tired. Their detachment from the background and the photographer adds to the photo; you can't always take in stunning scenery when engaged with climbing and the photo perhaps reflects this.

It`s a super photo with or without the climber ! It draws my eye to the climber then beyond to the beautiful background, amazing set of photos again Ben !
