Looks glorious, you have also managed to avoid the dreaded "high contrast" problem between yourself and a bright sky!
Where is it taken, I can't believe it is Scotland, but the mountains don't look that big? The Pyrenees? Les Pre-Alpes?

It is on Pic de Mil Menut, on the border between Andorra and France. And yes, it is gorgeous ski-touring country (with great weather as a bonus).

So what was the trick with the contrast? Forced flash?

Excellent shot BTW, if it were open for grades I would have given it a 5.

There is no trick that I'm aware of, my friend took it on his Google Nexus phone! The most useful thing we've learnt is to make sure the person has some/full sunlight on their face/body. Body in shadow, background in sun is disastrous. Beyond that, ski lots, take lots of photos and delete most of them. :) In 60 days of skiing this winter, it is the nicest photo I've got.

That is amazing quality for a smart phone - almost makes one question the value of carrying a purpose built camera.
After 60 days ski-touring this Winter, you must be as fit as the butcher's proverbial.

He does get very good results with that phone, it's impressive. You've got a great gallery, do you carry an SLR on those climbs? I like photography but am just not prepared to lug a big cameras up mountainsides, even though I am pretty fit right now. I'm wondering how to keep it going through the summer, last summer I ran mountain races and got plantar fasciitis as a result.
