Friday 2nd May 2014 was an exceptional flying day. Strong thermals, 5600ft cloud base and great visibility.

After take off from Catbells at 4pm I climbed out on a rough lee side thermal drifting over towards Crag Hill where I met the sea breeze front. I turned around and flew back towards Dale Head then crossed over the top end of Derwentwater, still just below the clouds around 5600ft. I made it as far as Bleaberry Fell before turning and flying back to Catbells. 2 hours of amazing flying.

What's the circular patches on the west side of Catbells/Maiden Moor?

Great photo btw!

I assume the circular patches are associated with the mine workings.

Thought you might like this. I have loads more to come and more on UKC already. Be good to get a little aerial photograph section going.
