Great pic. Did you camp on the ice ? Does not seem to be much snow, does the wind strip it off or was this a quick snowless freeze ?

Is this where they used to lay the rail track on the ice every winter to avoid the detour? Or am I just making that up?
And how far was it?

Thanks for the comments! SBC we did camp on the ice, and there was not a lot of snow, partly due to the wind, also due to the relative lack on precipitation on this part of the lake.
Rog, the ice cracks and moves all the time so a railway would be impossible, however cars and minibuses drive on roads all the time. It was a 50 miles walk.
